Been loving this pattern also but never could see well enough to figure it out. Really simple now that I see your diagram!! Thanks so much for your post!

Just wondering if you could use bigger strips, I have 31/2 inch strips that i wanted to use..... If any of you experts would like to let me know if these different strips sizes would work...
colour 1 being a 3 1/2 square,
colour 2 being a 3 1/2 square and a 3 1/2 x 7,
colour 3 being 3 1/2 x 7 and 3 1/2 x 10 1/2
colour 4 being 3 1/2 x 10 1/2 and 3 1/2 x 14
colour 5 being 3 1/2 x 14 and 3 1/2 x 17 1/2

please let me know if my math is correct, or if you think that the changes will distort the pattern too much and I should cut down the strips i have to the original sizes listed. thanks in advance for your input

I'm not good at math, but just the beginning is wrong, I think. The halves are for the seam allowance so if your square is 3.5, the color 2 would be 3.5x6.5 (the 3x2=6+.5 seam allowance), etc. Try it that way.

How much fabric would I need for a full size quilt? I cannot find the pattern in print anywhere. Any ideas?

I have this pattern but will have to go digging I think. You have really cleared up my understanding of this pattern. I have been wanting to make it but I just don't know how to choose fabrics. Hopefully, my friend will go with me and help. She has a great eye for color. Thank you so much for the diagram.
