Grrrr.

I think I was too excited about being almost done with my quilt top.

I decided to make my border HST's....so I cut a bunch of blocks, chain sewed them down the middle and then tried to cut them 1/4 inch away from the seam.

DUH!!!! Sigh.

It's ok. If they don't fit, save them for another project.

Ouch! I'm so sorry! I have a fear of doing that myself.

Aw, stop beating yourself up! We all make mistakes...just make yours into a new design.

did you measure to determine the design and size of the hst before you made them.
If they don't fit then center a string of them and before you get to the end you can add a strip of fabric. See if this might work. Mitre the strip in the corner and it will look like a frame the side of quilt and ends may be different but adding the strip of fabric might balance it.

If you cut the squares to the correct size, you can sew 1/4" on each side of that center seam. Then, you can cut on the center seam and selvage your hard work.
Hopefully this is the case. :)

Recently did the same thing myself... And no, I didn't cut the correct size to just sew either side of the first stitching. But as someone suggested, I do have some smaller HST's available for use elsewhere.

I must be really dumb today because I can't figure out what the mistake was.
