Default Computer anti-virus software

Could anyone tell me a good anti-virus software to put on my computer..I have Norton now and I haven't been pleased with it..I am un-indated with pop up adds and can't get rid of them...so I'm looking for a good software that doesn't cost an arm and leg...my Norton expires tomorrow..so I hope someone can lead me to a good one..maybe that they have...thanks

I was told to use microsoft essential, its free and it does the job for me. There are others one that comes to mind is AVG which is also free. There are others but can't think of them right now.

I have the free edition of AVG. It can be downloaded from the internet. There is also a version that one can download that one pays for. Cost is similar to that of Norton. I know there are others out there but I have been happy with AVG. You might try it and if you are not happy with it you haven't lost anything. Just google AVG and you can come up with a site from which you can download.

I use MSE, scan once a week, also use CCleaner and Malwarebytes (both free editions), run when I think of it.

I have used avg for years. The free version works well for the most part. If your a heavy user of the internet you might want to pay for the upgrade version of avg grisoft. I have done that as well and quite happy with it. Personally, I am not a big nortons fan.

I use Eset...not free, but well worth the money...I think it's about $45-50 a year. I also use ABP as an ad-blocker and it too works well. It's free....you'll have to Google both names as I don't have the addy for wither of them.

In addition to the virus software, you might want to consider changing browsers. I've migrated to Mozilla Firefox and have no issue with pop ups now. IE was a nightmare for pop ups.
