Default Green Machine Day

Seeing green on Saint Patrick’s Day is common, but I was still surprised by this green Singer 319W machine that walked into my shop yesterday. A young couple found it in a house that they had purchased, and had no use for it. I don’t either really, since I already have one, but the 206 Twin Needle caught my eye, and looks like it’s in good shape, if it is in fact, a 206. I haven’t checked that out yet. I got the thread lock out of the race already, and noticed that it has a chewed-up bobbin case, so it’s probably had other than 206x13 needles in it.

Sort of like an orphan dropped off at your door. Glad you adopted it, if only for a short while.

A green machine dropped off on St. Patty's day. It has to be a sign..... don't know what kind of a sign..... It's a pretty machine and I know you'll have her humming in no time, CD.

Nice! I've only seen one 306 in person and they look to be a heavy duty machine. Getting the cams and extra needles is nice too.

Wilbur and I played with the one I just cleaned up. I put a circle foot on it and we made all kinds of different flowers. He got a real big kick out of making flowers and choosing what lever to use.

Whether I keep it or not is what my wife and I talked about a little bit this morning. If I do keep it, it will become a treadle-powered machine. I already have one green 319W that is in great shape to use as an electric, with good original wiring and in an electric cabinet. The foot control cord on this one is taped up, so it must have some damage to it, and the light cover is missing, but both of those items won’t be needed as a treadle machine. I don’t know if the motor is any good yet.

I don’t have a portable case like this one, and it’s in good shape, so I want to keep it for some other machine. The cam boxes in the photo are all labeled for the 306 machine, and I sold all of the 306 cams that I had earlier, so I want to keep them to use with my Singer 306W that I’m using as a treadle. I have a black 206K and a brown crinkle 306W that I’ve removed the electrical parts, fitted with spoked handwheels, and use in my MUTT treadle, so I may do the same with this 319W.

Yea, that’s what I thought. What are the odds of an unwanted green sewing machine showing up on St. Patrick’s Day?

It shouldn’t be difficult to come up with a nickname for it.......

Darn! I missed St. Paddy's Day! Pffffttttt! Went right by me. I have a 1970ish, avocado green, machine, (Brother, I think,) that I really need to post a pic of. I'll try to take one today. Better late than never.
