Default Does Anyone Sell on Etsy?

I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to put things up there?

Anyone have any luck and if so, any tips?

I have done in the past... and since I wasn't willing to pay the extra $$ to bump my page in the listings, I didn't sell very much. Not really worth it to me.
Others may have a different experience, and if so, I would love to hear how they made their site profitable.

I used to. I stopped when postal rates became unreal. I shipped from Canada. I did not make much money at all.

I have not sold on etsy either but did look into it and felt it was not worth it for me.

I have an Etsy shop, but for me, it is not worth the effort of adding more items. There is sooooo much competition, and Listings are buried very quickly. If you are willing to put in the time on social media, etc, to advertise your shop, you may do ok. Read through the Etsy guidelines, as it spells out which shops stay at the top of searches and feeds....

I started to open a store but quickly decided against it. Too much personal info needed. I understand the reason it was needed but I wasn't comfortable with it. I also knew a friend of a friend who tried selling there and she did not have much success.

I figure trying to sell anything would be more aggravation than I care to have.
I love making quilts and just donate them.

It's fairly cheap (a few dollars a month) and easy to list items. In 3-4years, I have only sold one table runner. I keep it going just because I have few outlets for selling quilts. I have done some art/craft shows recently which netted a couple of sales. When I do them, etsy allows me to put the items on "inactive status" and then reactivate when the show is over. Not sure if I'm going to continue.

I have an Etsy shop and love it. I opened it to make money to support my quilting/sewing habit, and it has been very good at doing that. I would be in trouble if I had to make enough money for groceries or the house payment, but I do it for fun. For me it is a fun way to enjoy my hobby and make enough money to buy more fabric and supplies.

Another question...When someone approaches you in a conversation about one of your items, should you only answer in the Etsy conversation box or does it matter if you take it to private email?
I know with E Bay, you're supposed to stay on E Bay to answer questions, but I can't find anything like that on Etsy and someone asked me about my Bleu Horse quilt but wants me to answer via e-mail.
Does it make a difference?
