Default Need some design help...

I have 11 of these squares and don’t have enough of the background to make a 12 th one. They are 18” unfinished and I had planned on adding a sashing of the peach dot and center green fabric. I can see I either use 9 or make it 3 x 4 squares using the finished squares around the outside and 2 new somethings in the center. Any ideas? I have quite a bit of most of the fabrics left. Thanks for your ideas...I’m sure someone will have the “perfect” solution!

I think your idea of making two new blocks for the center is a good one. Perhaps a pointy dresden rather than your round one?

just brainstorming, but can you set them on point first row 3 across, 2nd row 2 across, 3rd row 3 across and 4th row 2 across? You would end up using 10 of the blocks and then maybe put the 11th on the back as part of your label or in the middle of the back?

I would use 9 of the blocks, then use a wide border and cut the other 2 to make fans in the corners.

Nira..laths sounds interesting too...will check and see if I have enough fabric to do the fills on the sides.

Donna....This sounds promising! Really like this idea...would give the border some nice interest.

Since they are fairly big blocks, maybe use 9 of them for the center of the quilt. 1 extra block might look nice as corner stones (if you cut it in 4 )and use some of the matching fabric as an 8 inch border up to the cornerstones? Pretty blocks!

for your 12th block, use an embroidered block that tells a story about the dresdens or just a feel good poem.

First of all ... beautiful dresden plates!

Good ideas above!!

... another possibility if you wanted to use all eleven ...
Two columns of four, with the column between only having three, and dropped
so that the plates come between the plates of the outside columns.

By using nine ... it would leave you with two, that could be used on pillow shams,
if that would be of interest to you.

Lots of good ideas. I like Tartan's idea the best. Beautiful blocks.

you can buy more background here...

he only has the 108" right now..you could buy 3 yards and do backing and your block..or keep checking back, he has the 44" a lot and should restock. They have always been great when I;ve called them..sometimes they have just a few yards of what you need and don't put it on the site. Never hurts to ask.
