Default White K-130

Hey all...

New to the forums and my first post. My wife is a collector of older sewing machines and I have, by default, become the sewing machine guy. She has a White K-130 machine that I'm guessing is from the late 50s early 60s but I'm not having any luck finding any information on this at all. It has what I believe to be a timing issue and for the life of me I can't find where to adjust it. I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions...

Good morning to you. Welcome aboard

Pretty machine. Why do you suspect it is timing? I have rarely found timing issues on the many machines I have serviced. And those were on newer machines.

Have you cleaned an oiled everything you can find that moves? run a piece of yarn between the tension discs, to clean them?

New needles and needle direction scan be an issue too, but without a manual it may be hard to find out where the flat side of the needle goes. My Whites are older. Hopefully someone with your model willl come by.

Maybe this will help you. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...tail&FORM=VIRE

And, for the record....Thank God that you guys take our projects to heart and fix them for us. I am a non-mechanical sewer and collector. My husband is wonderful!

Edited to add: Don't know if this one could be of value.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H0BQVVaw0c BTW...I don't watch these, I just find them. Me watching them would be useless. lol]]

It isn't a very good manual, but one can be found at https://www.singer.com/support I just put in 130 and found W130 in the results.

Thanks for the reply. I suspect timing mainly because of reading that I've done. Most descriptions of proper timing say the hook should be just above the eye of the needle when it's at its lowest point and this one is not. The hook is at at the tip of the needle. The other reason is because the machine will sew correctly for the first 1/2 to 3/4 inch and then the stitches are all messed up. Yes...I have cleaned and lubed everything and it runs incredibly smooth but it just won't sew correctly. This White is a left threaded machine. Sorry...don't know technical names of a lot of this stuff. I'm not a trained service person...just like to tinker and fix stuff.

Wow...guess I wouldn't have thought to search for a manual on the Singer site. Thanks for the link.

Hey all...just want to say a huge, "Thanks!" for replying to me on here. As a novice, non-sewing, tinkerer I'm not ashamed to admit that the problem with this machine appears to be user error. The link provided for the user manual was the key. I found that not only was the needle installed incorrectly but the wrong type of bobbin was installed in the machine. Corrected both and now the machine is sewing as it should. Need to do final adjustments to get tension dialed in but looks like a pretty simple fix on this one.

P.S. I'll be back and post pictures of some of the wife's other machines and maybe even some of her quilts...
