help need to square up and put boarders on 3-d quilt
I finally completed my 3-D quilt from Ruth Ann Berry's project book "Echoes" it is made up of equilateral triangles. the trouble is the top and bottom have a ragged triangle edge and if I square it , it will come to close to the 3-d subject matter how can I add a boarder without it affecting the 3-d look. please help

I will be watching here. I have this book, and will be doing at least one of the projects. I will probably encounter the same issue.
Pinterest has some ideas, but most don't include borders

the added pieces won't really overlap. they will fill the open areas between the triangles and have a flat outer edge. just like most blocks do before adding borders. Should work. try it somewhere. do it on paper first to get comfortable and then go for it.

this might help too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcHLmqdMkMU
setting triangles and corner triangles. If you had a pattern, that should have included this to finish your sides of your quilt.
