I have a question does any have the Ulmer quilter. I would love to get a hand quilting frame but don't have a lot of room (or cash) to have one set up.

I searched the internet and found this one- website is www.ulmerquilter.com - and I have heard a lot of good stuff about the Q-snaps.

They are basically the same but one is wood.

    Thanks Teri

I have an aunt that loves her Q-snap, but be sure to get the one that tilts.

I have 2 - the oval on a small pedestal that was my grandmother's and a Grace EZ3. I like the way the EZ3 folds down and can slide under my bed. My total cost was $181 incl. shipping. (that included a free coupon for the bungee cord attachments for the sides.) If you need to know the site pm me and I'll send it to you.

I couldn't get something that allowed the quilt to drape on the floor because my dogs would get on it. I agree I should train my dogs better, but I can't count on their good behavior.

Train dogs??? Mine rules the roost. He's about got me trained, I think.

I don't know anything about the hand-quilting frame. The only things I've ever hand quilted were table runners, and I didn't use any kind of a frame. I'm so NOT good at it, but I wish I were. Let us know what you get.

I have a Hinterberg that I built from their kit. The total cost, including the pieces I got here (the 3 rails and the trestle) was less than $200. It doesn't get totally put away, but it tilts into a vertical position easily and only sticks out 26" from the wall. It was super easy to build.

I have the ulmer frame, I've only done one queen on it so far. I really like it but the problem I have with ANY frame is trying to quilt in an awkard direction. Now I use a large embroidery hoop because I can turn it to any angle. I would like to have a round one on a stand.

I don't have the q-snap frame but my husband made me one out of PVC pipe which is real close to the q snap frame. It all comes apart and takes up no room to store it. I have seen them at Hancocks fabric store I can't remember the price but maybe you could get one made. I use mine all the time for hand quilting and then I machine quilt the borders.

Let me know if you want any more info I think they sell them on the internet through some web sites maybe you could get the measurements from that and have one made.
