I'm finishing up a quilt for my husband to take to a baby shower for a co-worker tomorrow.
(Nothing like finishing last-minute, huh?)
...just have to finish the binding and do the label.

We have no clue what the baby's name will be!
I was thinking I'd ask if they could let me borrow it back when they have the name picked out and label it then..
but a part of me would stress out that they'd forget and I'd never see it again!

Any ideas???

what if you made it especially for john and betty smith in honor of the birth of their first (?) child, add the date and your name. Then tell them if they would like the child's name and date of birth on it, you will do it after child is born.

I like this idea as well. For a cousin that did not give her son a name for 2 weeks (!) I did: To our new Cousin. Lots of love, etc. Then the date, my location and then Your cousins [our last name].

Yup, keep it generic. I'm sure they'll want to update it once the baby is born!

You might put a blank where they can write the name, if that doesn't seem too impersonal to you. I usually do that for charity quilts; since mine go to kids in foster care I want them be able to keep track of who it belongs to so that it can go with them if they change homes.
