    I think steel wool with out the soap would be a better choice. Find at hardware store by furniture refurnishing products. and I aggree -- stab don't sew.

    Okay, this sounds like a great idea but how about....we take an older unwanted or orphan sock and just put the steel wool in the toe of the sock and pin it shut at the top....whalla, a Woolly Sock Needle sharpener!!!!! Sorry, love working on my latest quilt and wanted to save some more time to do that.
