I Hate that excuse! Anyway, yes, there is supposed to be a quarter inch seam allowance, ... I don't know how it turned out so well on the lighthouse center, and I did have to trim things down to 6.5" to get it straight and square (the first time I have Ever appreciated DD's 6.5" ruler) ... maybe I should go ahead and put a border around the sample, Just to see what it will look like. Will take a bit of time, but will put it on the to do list <wave></wave>

Anyway, the border with the curved geese was created by Tulip43 ... and, was -- well, I am not sure how she did it, but it doesn't feel like it was foundation pieced.
I do know she attached it with applique stitch (by hand!)
The curved geese look like she made all of the geese the same, but she put the background triangles on some sort of track to know how to cause them to flow ...
I hope that there is enough information so you can replicate her excellent achievement. <wave>

Thanks for the quick reply and your description is good but I don't think that I'd want to do all that applique.
A while back Carol Doak had a free PP 1/4 circle with flying geese---that might work also. Worth a try. I love PP.

I may have to figure out how to get the instructions into a one page print out for ease of filing in your pattern books (aren't those plastic sheet protectors just the bees' knees??? LOL) but it won't be today <wave>

Your quilt is very nice. I love the migarating geese. thank you for the tutorial. I saw this pattern and thought that the only way to do it was paper piecing. I have always had a BIG problem with paper piecing. I wanted so much to do this that I learned how to paper piece from my wonderful patient friend.
