I too, have made several of these, and it does not call for batting. I also used for the main fabric, a panel that is across. It us either going to be bigger or smaller than the main fabric requirements, but it will just change your border width. I also flipped the ends the opposite way so that the panel would not be chopped off at an awkward place, so the flipped side goes to the back, and hand stitched the ends down so that the sewing line would not show through on the front side.
I was wondering if anyone else flipped them the other way, I like that much better personally. I've done both ways and everyone who has seen them prefers it with the center fabric out to point. I did not bat them either. Here's the first one i made in batik for my dining room table |

I am going to my neighbors tonite, we are going to make 10 minute table runners. I hope I can make it in 20, because I need 4 by Friday for gifts!

I have a question about the batting. Is that the correct width? Wouldn't it be too wide ?

Hi oma66, just looking at your runner. It's so unique and very nice. Your neighbors will love it. Where did you find the pattern? Everyone finds so many pretty things to make.

Where did you find the original pattern from? Was it in a book of Ten Minute Blocks? These are so pretty and quick from what your saying.

From UtahState University. Printed out just fine & everything. I am going to make lots of these. Your tutorial is wonderful. We just need to see 1 and were off running our little legs off aren't we?? Your work on them is wonderful and so pretty. Thank you so much for sharing.

I've made quite a bit of them as Christmas presents. Gave some away early so that the recipients could use them this holiday season. They all were so well received. I received the pattern from my lqs and my dealer. I didn't do one though until I saw your tut as I am a visual learner. I varied the widths based on my center panel and even added an inner border as I saw fit. I used a thin lining from pelon.

Yes add the batting or flannel inside the tube, here is where you get the pattern!! ( although the pattern I got doesn't mention any batting, 1 member on the board said she used flannel). google "ten minute table runner" and it comes up. There are several that come up, I decided on the one from UtahState, by Larue Bunnell Clark. Have fun on the board, it's fun here.:D

how the points are done.Is there a video on line? The points are made by folding the corners at each end into triangles that meet, but don't overlap. Sew them down to keep them in position. Hope that helps. |

The pattern I use is 9" wide center fabric and 18" wide border fabric but the same instructions. Batting or not up to you.

I use 12"WOF for center and 24" WOF border. It comes to 17 1/2 " wide and 41" inches long. Thiis my favorite size.
