Great tutorial and thank you for showing that the principles are applicable to making Carpenter's Wheel of the size you want. Thank you for your insight.

I spent a good hour trying to figure out the layout last night, this will be a big help.

Here's my version. I'm very pleased with it. It took about eleven to twelve hours total. I used the Magic Eight method for making eight HSTs at a time. I made two Magic Eights of each color combination. I'm sure that helped save time. I used yardage instead of charm squares and trimmed the HSTs to five inches unfinished. Stitchinbee's directions were very helpful.
I have a friend who's having twin grandkids next year and I think I'll make this again. I may use just one color for the inner star and a different one for the outer star, switching colors for the second quilt. Tate |

After being unable to find a simple reference sheet for the Carpenters Wheel quilt, I decided to make my own. I hope others will find this useful. I have included an image and a pdf file, if you prefer. Enjoy. :D
*** Please Note: I did not included any measurements so that you may make the quilt (or other item) any size that works for you. :D Carpenters Wheel / Star Project Reference Sheet JPG Format Attachment 255790 Carpenters Wheel / Star Project Reference Sheet PDF Format |
