Thanks so much! I'm thinking of doing another CW & remember the pain of figuring out how many blocks sewn this or that way.I did the same....wrote it all down on a slip of paper for reference.Yours ,being color coded is great! Thanks again.

Thank you, I've copied it and hope to be able to make this pattern for my oldest grand daughter. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for posting this. Gives me some ideas for using up more of my "stuff"..... I like the HST, and that should be easy enough to do with your diagram. Very helpful.

Will have to start making half square triangles. I really like this pattern

I have been wanting to make one of these! Thanks so much for making the reference sheet. Have you seen a scrappy one using whites or creams and darks for the green and purple? Just wondering how it would look.

If you go to www.quilterscache.com there are instructions for the Carpenter's Wheel for a 24" block.

I printed out your pdf file as the picture is so clear and easy to see how it's constructed...THANKS

irma tapia 09-14-2011 07:03 AM

I love your Carpenters Wheel. I would like to make one ASAP. I would want the finished block to be about 12½", can you tell me a little more information as I am kinda new at quilting and need more instructions. I can figure out the construction part I think. Thank you soooooo much in advance.

Sewnique 09-14-2011 08:14 PM

Very generous and thoughtful of you to do this for all of us! Thank you

stitchinbee 09-14-2011 09:00 PM

irishrose was kind enough to reference an in depth tutorial on measuring for the cuts in her comments, i believe it is the 3rd response to my post. this is just a simple reference sheet for quanity and placement. :)

purrfectquilts 09-15-2011 05:13 AM

Nice job on this and very helpful. I just finished one of these and had to draw my own picture to follow. Wish I would have had this before! I have saved it now and will make a small wall hanging gift for an older lady with Parkinson's using just 3 fabrics this time.

Thanks!!

pegquilter8 09-17-2011 08:21 AM

Thanks a million times. I have a lovely pattern, but am too lazy to count out the blocks. And you did it for me. Pegeth

Thanks! I"ve been trying to figure it out. You saved me some time!

Highmtn 09-24-2011 05:16 AM

Nice image.

Once the black magic is revealed it is much easier to see that making a block like this (for beginners) is doable.

I had just read another thread here in tutorials about making 8 HST from 2 big blocks....I love that you told us how many of each we will need. Thank You!!!

gofwido 02-27-2012 06:17 PM

If you go to www.maryquilts.com she has instructions for many quilts including the Carpenter's Star. Her suggestion is to piece it in four quadrants. Mary also provides patterns for quilts you can cut with the Accuquilt GO. Enjoy!

Lilrain 03-05-2012 01:53 AM

Thank you. Really think I may make one of these in the near future

keykrafting 03-05-2012 10:39 AM
