This is great; I even love purple and green together. I think not adding the size is smart; keeps us from limiting ourselves. Thank you.

Thanks for the pic, make it much easier to visualize.

This was my first CW but I want to make a quilt using many smaller CWs. Thanks for the square sizes! :) The quilt under my name to the left was my 2nd. The go together really fast!

Casperscott 03-23-2013 02:07 PM

Thank you so much. My daughter wants me to make her a quilt from this. Do you have anymore good info on it for me?

lizzy 03-27-2013 04:18 AM

This is one on my to do list. I have always loved this block. Thanks for all the information.

I right clicked on the picture and saved it or you can email it to yourself, then open it from the email or where ever you saved it and print. (I tried right clicking print, but got the messages too. I'm challenged what can I say.)

One can't go wrong with HST's. I was thinking this block, in R/W/B would make a nice patriotic quilt. Thank you for the graph

Belfrybat 03-21-2014 06:17 AM

This is an older thread, but I wanted to bump it up as I found it very helpful. Thank you!

I sort of came to this same conclusion a few years ago, but, never got around to stating how many blocks of each I would need. Thank you.

triplerosa 03-28-2014 01:54 AM

thanks what a great reference sheet

Gladys 04-01-2014 10:44 PM

I just found this. Thank you so much!

Ms Kay 04-02-2014 12:34 PM

I made my first carpenter star using this pattern. It came out great. Now I want to make a full size quilt for my bed.
Not sure what size blocks I should use. I just want the pattern on the center of the bed. If anyone has any ideas
Please let me know.
Thank you

javin22 04-04-2014 10:13 AM

Thanks that looks great!

Belfrybat 04-05-2014 05:42 AM

I used 6 - 1/2" blocks and ended up with the star 48" square before any borders. That would work great to cover the center of a double bed. I'd suggest measuring the top of your bed and divide by 8 to get an approximate block size.

Marsh 04-05-2014 07:10 AM

Thank you so much Belfrybat for bringing back this tut. It is a beautiful quilt and by going to the different web sites these posts have provided I have found so much information. I've been quilting for almost years, but have yet to cut triangles - they intimidate me so much, but I think I will try this pattern and see if I can do it. Marcia

sewingsuz 04-07-2014 06:48 PM
