"Sew across your seam....Do not sew on either side of that point. This is the critical piece of making a perfect point"

When you say "do not sew on either side of that point" do you mean left or right or top or bottom? (based on the picture)

Or, take pictures of what NOT to do.

Thanks!

Just today I finally got up the nerve to try stars (again - but we won't talk about that) and using your instructions they came out perfectly! Thank you!!

I had to quit 3 BOMs because of losing my points. They all had too many flying geese and HSTs. I think I'm hopeless. I don't understand "don't sew on either side". What does that mean? Don't I sew straight across? Help me!!!

I'll try to help!!!

You're going to have two fabrics that fit together....one of the "blocks" or pieces will have the flying geese. When you put them to the sewing machine, make sure the flying geese is laying on the top. If you look at it, you'll see two seams that come to a point (that's the point of the star). You're going to sew down the new seam....and DO cross that point where those two seams of the flying geese met. If your seam is to the left, you'll lose the point -- if your seam is to the right, you'll have a gap. When you're finished, you should have 3 seams that meet exactly. If you don't see the two seams where they meet, then pull one of the seam allowances the other way --- you'll see it!!!
