Watson...you should have been an engineer. What a handy set up and thank you for sharing.

jmoore...I'll tell my husband, (who is an engineer :D ) that you said so. He will get a good laugh out of that.

What a great setup. Even at full price for the parts, it is a bargain. I'll being looking for the parts in the PNW.

I made mine also for my sit down George machine...put two big eye screw bolts in the ceiling, attached two bungee cords, and ordered the clamps online, they are used to clamp sides of quilts for longarming..works great for me..easy peasy and wasn't a lot of money spent..at all.

A few years back there was a thread on here about different ways people used usual things to hold up there quilts while quilting.

You are very talented.

Looks just like my Tiara set-up. I've used dog grooming arms for several years. They work so well. I even have the same clamps- Harbor Freight, I think!

Great Idea

I just recently stumbled upon your post. What a great idea. Found two arms at Chewy's for $21.95 each. Can't wait for them to come in.

Hey Watson- Great minds think alike! I did this for my Sweet Sixteen a couple of years back- love it for quilting a big quilt.

I think this would also help with the distribution of the quilt for putting the binding on. I've been playing around with this idea for years and haven't done it yet! Mine would be from the ceiling like sak658.

I dis the same as sak658 for my Tiara, which I use standing up rather than sitting. I have 4 eye bolts in the ceiling. If you pull the rubber gaskets off the handles of the clamps there is already a hole there that is right sized for the bungee cords. Total cost $16.
