so glad I've just found Quilting Board and now a tutorial on making an Etui box. I have just returned to patchwork after 30+ years and started to learning quilting - then I discovered Etui boxes and have become quite obsessed - can't wait to get home and make a start - your instructions are so clear - adds to making the experience more enjoyable and less stressful

Oh my, this brings back memories, I made one of these 20 years ago and it's still going strong, I also made one based on a square box made with plastic tapestry sheets which you filled with tapestry and joined by sewing to make a needlwork box.I think its time I made some new boxes.

I tried it and couldn't even get the templates right. I wonder if there is a teacher for this project somewhere around here. I evidently need hands on instruction.

Need help with the length of fabric that you cut when you start, it's 28inx2in then later it says fold in turnings & iron. This should then measure approx. 29inx1in what is meant by turnings, and how does it end up being 29x1in which by folding in half would give me the 1 in., how does it become 29x1in. and why does it look like elastic on the ends? It is also longer then is needed to run around the lid top. Do you run elastic all way through the long strip & how do you make the strip look neat at the end when it is to long. Tks. for any help, I am much better by watching people do this instead of reading. I do need help.
