Hoping to make mine in July. Have most everything, 'cept time.

sandpat 06-10-2010 05:04 PM

Glad you could find a source for your boxes Elle. I need to make myself one of these. I gave away the one I made and it was sooo nice! I'm kicking myself. I've been saving up cardboard to do another though. sometime.......

I know your class will be fun!

quilting memaw 06-15-2010 08:21 AM

These are so neat. They would make sewing boxes for my family for Christmas. I would need one 20x's bigger, but this would be ideal for them! Thank you so much!

This was a great Tute Lesley thanks

Lovely boxes! I just cut my templates out to begin cutting cardboard. Planning to get some tagboard for the lining. I plan to do a scrappy outside with solid interior out of scraps from the quilt I am piecing.

That sound like a plan, never thought of making a scrappy piece of fabric first to make the box though. You will get rid of a lot of scraps that way. Good luck and lets see it when you get round to it please.

Wow, thank you for the tutorial. I have a box that I purchased so I know how hard it would be to make your own but the rewards would be worth it. It was very nice of you to share the instuctions. :)

Lacelady 06-24-2010 01:08 AM

Elle, it's past the 22nd now, so how did your class go? I am dying for some pics to see what your ladies made.

Okay, canīt show you any pics yet as there were 15 ladies taking part in this, all with gorgeous materials. Most got as far as nearly finishing the box lid and sewing the pouches and triangles which fold in whenthe box is closed. next week there will be pics I promise you. I have sent them home with instructions and I am sure quite a few will be able to have them finished, some need a little help so the Tute will carry on as well. It went really well though and everyone said how much they enjoyed making them. So you have to look forward to materials with fairies on them, Asian fabrics butterflies, Koi Carp, masks, and lots more. Just to keep you interested Patti.

Elle

sandpat 06-24-2010 04:58 AM

Butterflyspain 06-24-2010 06:24 AM

sandpat 06-24-2010 04:17 PM

Thanks. Just had a message from one of my Students I used to look after when she came to England, she is Japanese and has just told me she is having her first baby n December. think I will make a baby box and fill it with goodies for her.

sandpat 06-29-2010 01:51 PM

What a cute idea!! I wish I'd thought of that, but then I don't know of any babies due right now anyway..so I'll wait and steal your idea later

Butterflyspain 07-02-2010 05:05 AM

Elle...they are gorgeous!! The top of your box reminds me of a OBW hex...I think I could make a top from that type of block and it would be cool looking! Wish I had time right now to hurry off and try it!

brushandthimble 07-02-2010 06:09 AM

butterflyspain, wow that is really pretty!

Butterflyspain 07-02-2010 06:46 AM

There are still more to come, only some have visitors at the moment and others have gone back to england, but I will post them when they all come back. I was really pleased with this tutorial and all the ladies enjoyed it so much.

Elle, they are all stunning. I loved each one, yet they are so different because of their fabrics. The Koi lady made some pretty accessories to go with hers, the pink one is so cheerful, and of course yours is so ... Eastern! Can't wait to see the rest of them - you did really well with your tute to the class and your students excelled!

Butterflyspain 07-02-2010 07:57 AM

Thank you. Everybody really enjoyed themselves. I think it was the fact that it was relaxing and not much sewing for a change. There is more to come.

sewnmom 07-02-2010 08:21 AM

Ella, your friends did a beautiful work on these boxes. i need to ask about the Koi covered box. what is in the middle or can you take a closer pic? thanks ahead, molly

Butterflyspain 07-02-2010 08:35 AM

In the middle is what Michele made. There is a scissor holder, thimble holder and pin cushion. Hope that helps

SassySewer53 07-05-2010 08:53 PM

I have cut board for one box, but have to finish up some projects before making this box. Going to make it to match the sewing machine cover I am planning to make after finishing a quilt I have been working on. Your tutorial is very helpful! Looks like a fun class!

wvdek 07-08-2010 08:18 PM

Oh my, looky at all the pretty new boxes. Maybe I can work on mine soon!

Hi there, the original Tutorial was by Lacelady. I just did the tutorial in Spain as all the ladies liked my box so much. Good luck with your box

Elle

Lacelady 07-08-2010 11:21 PM

Any more pics yet Elle? I am really looking forward to seeing the rest of the boxes your ladies have made.

Butterflyspain 07-09-2010 12:05 AM

Not yet but will have more next Tuesday as all the girls I think barr one will have finished them.

So will take my other camera as this one is impossible to download for some reason, I am no genius when it comes to cameras.

Elle

mayday 07-13-2010 10:29 PM

this is so good ---have plenty but without gusset ,much better---thanks

Butterflyspain 07-13-2010 10:47 PM

As usual my camera played up so am waiting for the pics from a friend, so patience is a virtue at the moment, because I have pictures of what everyone was doing again.

Elle

sandpat 07-14-2010 06:06 AM

Oh no!! You mean I have to drag out my "patience" AGAIN?????

Butterflyspain 07-14-2010 08:02 AM

Yep fraid so. This camera has got batteries and I donīt know why but they just donīt last very long at all, think it must be the heat. Anyway I will put out a feeler to see if she has forgotten or not, however they will be on our site come the weekend as it gets updated every Sunday without fail now.

sandpat 07-14-2010 06:27 PM

I can go there...no problem! I love to poke around and see what everyone is doing!

I understand about the battery thing....my cell phone died today. It says "invalid battery"...

Butterflyspain 07-14-2010 10:20 PM

Awe no, just when you have paid out loads you have to go find a new battery. Do you get phone for nothing if you sign a contract? They do things like that but you have to sign up for a year.

sandpat 07-15-2010 10:46 AM

Oh I'm a cheapo Elle....I have one of those "disposable" phones...you buy the phone for $20 bucks, then buy the minutes when you want them...no contract...nothing like that. It is 3 yrs. old...so I guess its time. They don't make these things to last all that long you know.

I'll get one in the next few days...I saw one at the Dollar Store this morning for $8.00  I might splurge and get a little better one than that...but..who knows. That is the LEAST of my issues for right now   (Nobody calls me anyway!)
