Lacelady,
I did enjoy making ! Thank you for the pattern.
I am in the middle of making two more. I think the two (together) will take about the same time as the first one.
Both are cut out, one has the fabric glued. Taking a break for now, will get to work probably after supper.

ButterflySpain,

I just love the last Oriental fabric box you posted! Oh so pretty.

Alas, I do not have any Oriental fabric in my stash, so I must find something else. I am currently hunting up/down(?) some cardboard.

No shoeboxes or kids toyboxes or washing powder boxes, they are all good. These boxes lend themselves to most fabrics. Good luck with your search, I have been looking outside the smaller shops where they throw out their boxes, how sad am I.

Well right....we don't even have any shops in our po-dunky town to look outside of! I think I'm gonna go beg the neighbors to buy some shoes for their kids, just so I can have the boxes!!

Oooops Patti, sorry forgot you were at the end of the world
:-( Donīt tell me I am going to have to send you cardboard instead of pretty fabric now. Now that is the pits.

Thanks for the information on boxes to use,

Couple questions on the interior supplies. Would poster board
be stiff enough to use? Foam core that is a bit less than 1/4"
thick, could it be used or is that on the too thick side of
being usable, and if so, would you have to adjust any of the
other pieces so that it would work? Have not been able to
get to the store that handles matt board as you suggested.

Having made three I would suggest that 1/4" is too thick. it will make the boxes very heavy as well. Even if you glue two thin pieces of card together that would work. I can only suggest using pizza boxes that way. Hope that helps.

You could always ask shoe shops if they have any spare - Lots of people don't want the boxes, and leave them in the shop, so surely they would be happy to give you them instead of having to pay for them to be disposed of. In particular, ask for the boxes boots come in - they would be great for the lids and bases. You could always resort to cerial boxes if you are prepared to glue several layers together, as in plywood - a sort of plycardboard!

LOL remember not to use the pizza box a pizza actually came in or you might find the family dog eating your needlework box because of the smell!
