Boy, I have done the books, I have practiced, I have done it every which way and they always come out wonky! But I trust in the power of pins and your tutorial was so wonderful. I am actually excited about trying this method! Thank you for such a wonderful explanation of your technique.

Glad I could help, it's what works for me. I found that using Elmer's School Glue instead of pins works even better. Do the same pressing of the angle, lift up the top piece and put a tiny line of glue on the underside and then iron it down onto the bottom piece. Open it up and sew the creased line. Pull the glued parts open then trim the seam allowance.

Make sure you start with your quilt corner being square! This is how I mitre, too. Great tutorial!

I do the same thing, except for all the pinning. I use a little glue stick (the kind that washes out) instead of the pins and then stitch on the fold line. Comes out perfect every time.

Wish I had found this tut sooner. I just finished a quilt that was supposed to have mitered corners and I didn't have a clue how to do it - and the instructions that came with the quilt patten were no help at all. I think I could do it your way. Thank you very much.

Thanks for this tutorial. Have just finished putting the borders on my very first lap quilt and butted them because I was afraid to try mitreing but will certainly give this a go next time.
