tlrnhi 02-27-2011 07:11 PM

juneayerza 02-27-2011 09:57 PM

Terri, thanks again!

EasyPeezy 02-27-2011 10:16 PM

Thanks for the nice tutorial.

Butterflyspain 02-28-2011 12:17 AM

Terri, thanks for the great Tute, feel I got to make one now but that darned DJ has got to be finished first.

Really neat, love it

BMP 02-28-2011 03:11 AM

Thanks for the tute !! Making one is on my list....

Homemother 02-28-2011 03:46 AM

Fabulous tutorial! It doesn't look intimidating at all! Thank you!

judylg 02-28-2011 05:14 AM

Thanks for this! It is just fantastic. And it will be even more so if I can start and finish one!

anima57 02-28-2011 07:35 AM

thanks much for this! wanted to try before, but will see when this lovely tutorial is done, if I can simplify it a bit. saw one once that was vertical strips, all in blues, batik/Asian. just lovely but did not have time to ask about it.

wvdek 02-28-2011 08:17 AM

Great tut T. Soon as I have time, this way up on my To-Do list.

tlrnhi 02-28-2011 08:20 AM

You can tweak this tute to fit your sewing. That's pretty much how I did this one. I tweaked it from the pattern.

anima57 02-28-2011 08:21 AM

cool--Thanks! might have to start looking through my bins for stuff!

DawnMarie, I have seen patterns where the sweatshirt is lined, but don't recall if the sweatshirt pieces were used as the lining pattern or if a separate one was provided. When I do get around to making one for myself, I'm thinking I'll use the sweatshirt pieces as the lining pattern before I begin adding fabric to the shirt itself.

That's what I was told to do if jacket is to be lined. Didn't think about putting that in this tute only because I didn't line the jacket.
Just take the pieces, once apart, then trace around for pattern. Sew the lining fabric on first, THEN, do the front part. The lining will be held down by the "quilting". OR, you could just baste the lining in after all pieces are done before you sew it back together.

Thanks Terri for the fabulous tutourial! I have gotten a sweatshirt .... next to take it apart etc... :)

judylg 03-06-2011 04:41 AM

Has anyone completed one of the quilted sweatshirts? I just started cutting out the strips last night, have not done the sweatshirt cutting yet. I am anxious to see others jackets.

Longarm 03-06-2011 05:19 AM

Thanks for the ez sounding tute, I have a lot of sweats that have stains. I hate to throw them out as some of them are quite new but seems like I always drip coffee or something on a white or light color one the first time I wear it. They should work great for this.

The blues are very pretty together, I like that!

Sadheart 03-08-2011 08:26 PM

Thank you Terri for sharing your tute. And everyone else for your ideas and insight.

Butterflyspain 03-09-2011 12:36 AM

Lovely in the blues. I am collecting my fat quarters and pieces I have left over that are big enough, as I really want to make one of these.

TexasBlueBonnet 03-09-2011 01:55 PM

I have been wanting to make a jacket but had no idea how to start it. Thanks for the info and went you finished it, please show it to us.

LindaM :-D

sewnsewer2 03-11-2011 08:18 PM

GGinMcKinney 03-11-2011 08:47 PM

I have really wanted to make a quilted jacket. Now, this is a tute that is complete and I understand it. Thank you so much!

welll...this was going to be a jacket, but since I couldn't wait to try it until I went out and bought a large sweatshirt, I used an old well worn one so this one is VERY short...so I think I will finish it into a vest and maybe just add a section along the bottom...what do you think?

Butterflyspain 03-11-2011 11:38 PM

Lovely little bolero, I love it. Just waiting on a jelly roll coming from the USA so that I can start

judylg 03-12-2011 06:23 AM

The one I am making is going to be shorter, too. I am leaving it this length, I like it, one thing I did do was bind the bottoms of the sleeves before I sewed it together, I thought it might be bulky at the seam but it is good.

judylg 03-12-2011 07:13 AM

I meant to add, I sewed the sleeve binding on first as I figured the sleeve end might be awkward to bind.

Love your colors, so pretty.

If you go back to the beginning of the tutorial, you'll find directions as to how to put the sleeves on. I have the entire making of the jacket on here.

pdunn56 03-12-2011 08:41 PM

thanks Judy ;-)
