I have had many requests for this pattern. Please bear with me, since I don't have a pattern to follow I will have to just put it in my own words with bad cell phone pictures. Please feel free to ask for clarification on anything. Here we go....

Cut a 9" X 1" strip of fabric
fold in half with wrong sides together and press
then open and fold edges into the middle press
fold in half again and press (just like binding)
Sew down the length to make the loop for the tea wallet

Cut a 20" X 16" Fabric

Fold in half lengthwise right sides together so it measures 10" X 16" and sew a 1/4 seam.

move seam to the center and press open

Sew a 1/4 seam on one end only

On the under end, fold the edge down about 1/2" and press.

Turn wallet right side out and press

sew 1/4" seam on the edge of the sewn edge.
Fold up 2 1/2" and pin **be sure you fold up on the seam side**
Sew 1/4 seam on the edge of the fold.
Pic 2

On the unsewn edge, fold up 5" and then fold back 2 1/2 Inches.

Press and then sew 1/4" seam at the top of the pocket like the other side. (See picture, I know it doesn't sound right.. lol)

Take the loop and side it under the layers of the unsewn side. Use the center seam for guidance. Sew 1/4" seam down the unsewn side. Back stitch over the loop.

Next sew 1/4" seam down both sides.

Measure and sew about 3 1/4" from each side of the wallet to make the pouches. I put tea bags in them first ot make sure they will fit.

Fill up with the teabags, fold (tri folding) and mark where to sew on your button.

Ok.. I am hoping I didn't miss anything. Please ask away if I am (and I probably am) unclear about anything. I will include several pics so hopefully you can see from those how it should look.

Dragonfly Nana 08-28-2010 04:46 AM

Great job. Many ways these could be used. I was thinking about small note pads and crayons for a child.

sewjoyce 08-28-2010 05:13 AM

And I was thinking it would be really cute if you machine embroidered an initial....

If your wristlet is a wallet for your wrist, please do a tutorial! I am dying to have one but bought a pattern (one of the pattern companies has it) and it's awfully complex with about 10 pieces....I know there has to be a simple one out there that I have the patience to make!!!!

Thanks a bunch.

Thank you so much.

You know that is a super gift idea for any traveler....

BoJo 08-29-2010 08:42 AM

That was a great tutorial. I plan to make one for a special friend who loves hot tea.

Thank you

quilts4fun 08-29-2010 10:57 AM

Thanks so much for doing this. Will give it a try tonight.

Teacup 08-29-2010 11:05 AM

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I need this. I keep tea bags in my purse for the times a restaurant serves only Lipton or some other brand I don't care for, or for when they you ask for a second cup and they bring only hot water but no fresh bag (I'd sure like to see them do that for coffee drinkers! I tip extra if a waitress brings me a sencond teabag.)

POosterman 08-29-2010 03:18 PM

Very nice! These would make very nice teacher or friend gifts. Or church member.

roseOfsharon 08-29-2010 03:24 PM

Thanks so much for the tutorial :)

paloma 08-29-2010 04:30 PM

perhaps one could make it a little larger to carry pads

Annz 08-29-2010 06:24 PM

Great tut. Thanks so much.

Judie 08-29-2010 06:27 PM

One of my best friends always carries tea with her.. usually in a worn plastic zip bag.. This is perfect for a little gift for her.. Thank you!! It's cute and practical and a small enough gift that she won't feel like she has to give me something!!

Dee 08-29-2010 06:53 PM

Thanks for the tute. Real cute idea. Thanks for sharing.

Jim's Gem 08-29-2010 06:56 PM
