This was a fabulous tutorial. I needed reminding on how to do it. Thank you so much!

Thanks for the great tutorial. Instead of pinning the last step, use a thin line of glue to the folded seam. Press in place to set the glue then stitch. If you stitch both sides of your sashing I think it looks more balanced.

    Drosie,

    No glue for my quilts....ever.

As for your final comment, please re-read the title of this thread. "How I Do It". There are infinite ways to QAYG but this tutorial lays out my method. Please feel free to deviate from it and find your "best for you" method. (And don't feel compelled to report back to me.)

I sent this tutorial to a friend because she was wanting to try quilt as you go. I thought this tutorial was one of the best I had seen. My friend agreed with you, DrosieD that the glue suggestion was a good one. She tried your idea along with the rest of this excellent tutorial and was pleased with her first attempt.

Thanks to the OP as well as DrosieD for her suggestion.

I happened to purchase a roll of 2 1/2 inch batting and then wondered what I would do with it. well now I am making four patches out of scraps and those into 12 inch blocks. I will use your method for sashings and use the batting strip I bought in those. Yea! Thanks much.

So glad you found the roll of 2.5" batting! How handy for this. Remember to cut your sashes 3" wide, to add for the seam allowance.
