I have to admit that yarn is a beast of a mess! You'd think I'd have learned to stay away after I crocheted an ahgan for our RV. We named it Faux Kitty cause who needs a real cat to shed everywhere when Faux Kitty does it so well herself! Black eyelash yarn, tan carpet need I say more?

Baskets, I don't have the cute comb hair yarn, but still wanted to make a chicken! Here's my first try and your directions were great! I now want to make the bigger ones...what sizes do you use for the squares on your 6" chickens?

She's adorable!! I love the rick rack hair! I don't have a 6" chick with me to measure, I believe the beaks, 2 nested to look like an open beak, were maybe 2 inch squares to start with. The tail squares were about 3-1/2" or so. Sorry I can't be more specific you'll just have to play around until she looks good. But that's the fun part, you can't make them wrong, just make them your way. Have fun!
Looking at your picture again I usually put the beak seam down but I think I like your way better!

Those are some groovy chicks :XD: I made mine with two minny log cabins and filled them with plastic pellets and cotton batting. I love the addition of eyelash yarn. I might make another one only groovy this time!

I had a friend take a picture of her large chicken I made for her last year. You can see how I doubled the beak.
