On my shadow boxed block I used a 12.5" plastic square ruler & I needed my unfinished shadow boxed block to measure 12.5". I just had to make sure that I wasn't trimming one side of my strips more that another. You just have to center your square ruler on your block (best as possible) & make sure the corners of your shadow boxed square line up with the corners of the square ruler (again, best as possible). I didn't find mitered corners especially easy to do & I had to re-do about 3 of my blocks that I had trouble matching up the mitered points. That's why it's very important to make sure the flower block is the right size & squared with 90 deg angles before adding the shadow box borders. Hope this helps. :D

This seems to be a more exact way than what I do which is just folding and pressing. Nothing never turned out so I just did not miter things. But with your tut, now I can see what needs to be done. Thank you so much.
