I love that pattern and made one, but haven't finished quilting it yet. I am not able to use a rotary cutter, so the directions really confused me. I just cut the widths needed as I went along. It wasn't that hard to sew up, tho. It was the cutting/planning. I wish they put alternate 'old fashioned' directions on patterns.

The two borders could be pieced strip sets and then cut down. Probably something like one strip of black 4-1/2" x WOF and one strip of background 2" x WOF, subcut into 2 inch strips AND one strip of black 12-1/2" by WOF and one strip of background 2" x WOF, subcut into 2 inch strips.
