what is the difference between using th adding machine paper and just sewing scraps together?

The paper helps keep things flat and also no problem if some of your scraps are bias pieces..

What a wonderful idea. I use newspaper for quilt blocks, and it tears off perfect. Never thought of addding machine tape but will sure try it now.
