Apparently I did not take into account that when you are using triangles and sewing on the diagonal your square has to be a little bit larger or when you sew it next to a square it will not be the size it needs to be ...

I am going to make another one tonight and see if I can get it :)

    Thanks!!
Here is a link to instructions for making half square triangle blocks.
    http://quilting.about.com/od/quickpi...squaretria.htm
I personally use the method on page 5 of these instructions, making the blocks a touch bigger than the pattern calls for and trimming them down. For this Friendship star pattern, I cut the beginning square 5" instead of 4-7/8". Then follow the rest of the instructions. Your points should come out perfect.

I love the fabric you used and look forward to seeing your next star.

I must have missed the PP part. Do you remember which page it was on?
I don't remember which page it was on, but there were no instructions. I read it after I finished my first star (points were off) and so I made my own pattern and pp the whole star. After I finished it and ran into problems with the last seams..... I made a third star. I realized (I'm new at this) she meant only pp the points. I made a square on paper and drew my line corner to corner. After you pp piece the four points (squares), you are left with all squares to sew together. My third star came out the best. Hope this helps.

Thanks Rudiemom - I'm using the same fabric I used on the PP Church block.

Love your star! Not to worry about the wonky bits; it isn't really noticeable. Live your fabric choices. :D

Did the PP part of the star but now I can't get the center right. When I sew the piece's together it cuts off the center points. Help!!

David, that's a beautiful block. I hope you can keep the theme, it's a great beginning. Can't wait to see the final quilt!

Here is my block, I have had it done for quite a while, but life keeps getting in the way of posting a picture of it. I am on my second baby quilt in a week! I am going to try to do all 12 in purple with the same background fabric. Only two more weeks till the next installment!
