I know....there's no "shouting" in bold and caps on the QB - but I thought with a title I would get the attention of those interested Several people have asked how to post pictures. You can find the instructions when you go to the "help" near the top of all entries on each page of each thread. However, I do remember having a problem there quite some time ago, haven't looked recently and I tend to be 'wordy' enough that people usually understand my instructions! If there is a problem please let me know...

    POSTING PICTURES:
As for posting pics - I had such a hard time doing that myself initially. Now I actually take most pictures with my [not so] "smart" phone android, put my email address in the contact slot to "send" messages to or email it to myself from my phone at 30%. From my email I save it to a picture file. I right click on it once it's in the file [can't figure out how to do it directly] and open with microsoft office. When the picture shows, I go up to the top and click on edit picture and you will get a list of stuff on the right, under picture size click on resize. Another section will come up - go to predefined width and size and hit that little arrow - you can choose either of the web sizes will be fine. Hit "ok" at the bottom and then go to the file at the top toolbar on the far left - hold that and go to "save as" and remember to save it in a file whether it be your general picture file or whatever so you can find it to post ---this is the point I give it a DJ name like DJm3, etc. [I can't tell you how often I have forgotten one of these last two steps and it goes into "lala land"... with the missing socks!!]
Once you have it saved like this you can post real easily - you click on the little box above this 'reply' box in the tool bar above here....to the right of the smiley face and the two worlds just to the left of the filmstrip [with a magnifying glass you can see it actually contains a tree!!] When you do this another box pops up that lets you browse in your computer - choose the file with the picture you resized and click on 'upload'

This is actually a very quick procedure - in the time I typed this you can upload ten pictures!!

If you don't have a "smartphone" or a "not so smart phone" you can still follow most of the instructions above once you get your pictures transferred to a picture folder on your computer.

Thank you Gus for the new thread and the PM about it. I started my DJ with the last thread and was having fun with it until I started a new job and it got put aside and forgotten. So I am going to get everything out today and see where I'm at. I needed the motivation. Woohoo!

I am so excited to read this thread. My girlfriend in Virginia and I have just decided to start our Dear Jane journeys and have been collecting fabric. We also have the book and software.

Is there a special sign-up to get the posts or do we just watch for them on the QB?

With Jane as my middle name, I especially want to make her. I'm actually planning to do 2 - one in CW for my great nephew and one in batiks for my great niece.

I really like your way of thinking... I am going to use both of the above ideas to help me finish my Dear Baby Jane. (I hope).

The blocks for the first week on the schedule are A6, A8 and B4.
First of all, I didn't realize I hadn't saved the pictures for a few of my earlier blocks in 2012, so I had to retake these and my squares are currently safety pinned to a background fabric so I can switch them around in a little while. The second thing you will notice is that the fabrics I used for these blocks [and a couple more] are reproductions of some extra "dull" fabrics typical of the post Civil War era - not anything Jane Stickle would have used!!

Be sure to post yours! and if you are at another stage of your Baby Jane, post any pictures you would like to share

Gus, thanks for resurrecting our past efforts to make progress on our Dear Baby Janes. I'd put mine away for a year and just recently pulled them out and restarted. So it's great to have a thread here to inspire. I have the book but not the software as I'm on a Mac as well. I have benefited greatly from instructions at the ThatQuilt blog.

Count me in again. I haven't worked on it in a while, but am approximately halfway through with both the blocks and the tris. Monica, please add me to the "need to PM" list. Thanks!

I am glad that you are starting this again. I finished about 30 blocks last time. Maybe I can get another 30 done this time. Slowly but surely it will get done. I did have trouble with the tris.

Cindy [and others] - I'm not sure I will be sending out another massive PM. I know I never sent you one because you checked in on a regular basis. I will however, notice if you are too "quiet!!" & then I might send you one
It took about a week to send all the ones I did because I had to send several times daily as the system only allows 5 BCCs at a time [or CCs] and you have to space these out a bit because when I tried to send too many in a row, or send an hour later, the system immediately sent me to the home page. This is how this particular site tries to prevent spammers.... I get it but it is annoying if you want to get an actual message out to a large group and I had 137!!

If I want to get a message to "all" of you I simply will post it here. I will try the other site to post - it will be under: Community: Groups ...from the home toolbar you are on now near the top. PatriceJ told me how to set it up and I will shortly, but I'm not sure it will work for the purpose I intend - that is, there is nothing else similar with 'rules or hints only.'

    Barb,
you said you have trouble with the tris... I'm not sure whether you had the Jane rulers? The triangle ruler is invaluable here. You can also trace the outer shape of one of the triangles in the book [& add 1/4" all the way around] onto a piece of template plastic, or have one cut at a hardware store as DottyD suggested [or was it QuiltnNan??]
This will allow you to "audition" your fabrics and ensure you don't go beyond the seam line.
    Gus
