Default Rhonda's Second Sampler Quilt Along - Week 11 - Clarissa

This week we are using my Drunkard's Path blocks.

So as usual it uses my cut down method which I think makes your blocks more accurate and you have better control of the size as you go.
Just make sure to measure each time you complete a step.
It will save a lot of frustration when you are done.

Here are the directions to making a Drunkard's Path my way with my cut down method.
http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...-t63180-3.html

To make this quilt block into a 12 1/2" unfinished size you will need a 2 1/2" template.

You can take a look at the layout picture to see what Blocks you need and where to put the colors. If you change the color arrangement you will get a differant look from mine.

So try it out and see what you can make with this design! Have fun!

If you need any help don't hesitate to ask. I'll be more than happy to help.

If you need templates let me know. I will need your postal address and PLEASE send it by pm or email not on the open board. The templates are FREE no fees or postage needed.

Here is this week's Quilt Block -

Ok, now if I used a 3" circle on the 12 1/2" block, would I use a 1 1/2" circle on the 6???? I'd really like to see a Drunkard path in with the rest of my 6 1/2" blocks.

Katie I use a 1 7/8" or a 2" circle I used the 1 7/8th for a long time but when I had to give a size for a lesson I rounded it up to 2" because it was easier for getting a premade template for the circle. I dont' think it makes too much differance. You can always use copy paper to practice. My thing is I want to make sure when you sew two blocks together the quarter circles overlap enough to get a good design. Preferably for me I like the thread that runs through the quarter circles to meet.(the top stitching you get when you sew the circle onto the background square) But they don't always do that. It is a look I like tho when I can get it to work.

Here is a hot pad I did years ago and it shows what I mean by the threads connecting. It is a 6 1/2" quilt block. All my hotpads are 6 1/2" quilt blocks then I add borders to get an 8 1/2" size unfinished.

You can join any time. I post the threads and then they are there for anyone to use any time. The first one I did 84 quilt blocks as it was intended as a Dear Jane type quilt. I had been asked to do it.
This one is anybody's quess as to how many quilt blocks. I am just having fun posting them.

Please send me the templates for your week 11 sampler quilt along, the Drunkards Path one. I love the way you have used this pattern.

The only template I send out that you would use for this is the 2 1/2" template. Then you would need a 3 1/2" circle I don't do it the traditional way. I'll be happy to send you the templates if you would send me your postal address in a pm.

I printed off some 3 1/2" circles from a site online so I could send you some of those if you like. Or you can find a glass or bottle or cap to trace that measures 3 1/2" and trace it off onto cardboard and cut out.

It isn't hard to do when you use my cut down method. Here is the link:
