arghh... my tweet shirt the DH did on our brother has curled up around the embroidered sections. We used the soft knit stablizer like it showed and it looked great until I washed it.

The area around the boat is what curled up.

I'd do picture but we're about 800 miles from home and I just thought about this.

Any suggestions what might have went wrong? Is it possible to stretch it too much?

Yes you can stretch the fabric too much during hooping & then end up with curled designs. Many don't hoop stretchy fabrics. Instead they use a sticky back stabilizer, stick & baste in place. The density of the design can also cause curling or what many call "bucketing". For stretchy fabrics like t-shirts, jeans, etc, you should choose a less denser design, and increase the pull compensation. Many fabrics will shrink after washing, but your embroidery thread doesn't. If using a polyester or rayon embroidery thread they don't shrink. Some wash fabric/clothing item first, some don't. A lot of embroidery is trial & error.

Sometimes you can wet it good and press it out. I have done that several times on embroidered wearables.
