We had a robin that wouldn't quit - constantly bonking into one of our basement windows (I still need to clean all the marks off it - it's covered!). For a while we put a piece of cardboard against the outside, but it blocked the light and our view - took it away after a few days and the bird-brain came back! I finally took one of ds's stuffed animals with big beady eyes (actually a parrot puppet) and set it on the sill looking out. The bird hasn't been back since.

He's being territorial. He somehow sees himself and tries to pick a fight. (I've had one do that to the bumper of my truck, AND the side mirrors)
The stuffed toy is a perfect solution! That guy is bigger, so he's not gonna pick a fight there!!

My aunt in England has adhesive cutouts of hawks in flight stuck to her big picture windows. They had so many casualties after having the windows fitted - she found them on an animal charity welfare site. It works too.

I can't wait for "our" hummingbirds to come back. There's one that it super territorial, and even though there's enough sugarwater to go around, this one little guy dive bombs EVERY other hummingbird....all day long. I think he needs a zanax or something. We *will* put out more nectar if it's all gone, little buddy. Really, we will.

I had to cover the side mirrors on my car with towels. They kept pecking at the bird in the mirror and pooping on my car. What a mess!

We had a redbird come to the window and tell us the feeder was empty. She would not come to the window unless she wanted more food put out.

I have always heard if a bird gets into your house there would be a death in the family, had that happen once, but, no one died, just as I thought an old wife's tail. I do have birds occassionally fly into a window. I have a large greenhouse window and birds will get on the slanted top window, cats lay on bottom shelf and if they notice, they get riled up, birds fly off.
