A few choice pictures from the event! If you're not familiar with the Steampunk sub-genre, it's sort of a retro futuristic Neo-Victorian awesome thing. The "awesome" covers everything not covered by the first few adjectives, right? It's a very crafter-friendly genre and people get together to show off costumes, attend performances, and vend their wares.

My picture with Steampunk Boba Fett and an excellently steampunk gent. That day = made.

My first costume. I appear to be a... sailor... of some sort? In posture?

My new corset and over-skirt! Purple leather is love.

Yeah, I had to borrow the rifle for a shot...

These guys were walking around all throughout the con. Loved them and so glad to finally get their picture!

His Polly was such a perky little thing! She glowed and moved and whistled.

Thank you for sharing your photo, I enjoyed see them. I have been to a "Makers Fair" and it had some of the same feel as the Steam Punk stuff does.

Enjoyed the pix and the work that goes into the look. Havn't heard of this, Is this a look that groups adopt like, goth, geek, hippie, punk, emo, greaser, hood, etc?I am always interested in trends that are so popular that entire groups are formed from a look.

I think that steampunk draws something from a lot of these looks and that there are various elements 'within' the steampunk group. Pretty much all of it evolves from the basic concept of "What would the world be like if steam power ruled the day?" and mixes in very strong flavors from the Victorian era, the age of exploration, some grunge and scifi, and a healthy dose of mad science. Everybody seems to have their own spin on it and some of the branches have different labels. Some people concentrate only on the creative and maker's aspect of things. Some focus on it purely as a Victorian aesthetic with quirk. Anybody who tries to "define" it inevitably runs into far too many exceptions to their rule. ;)

Squee!! that is so cool! I would have gone into mental overload at the dice box - so many, so little time...

Now I really have to get off my butt & make that SP outfit I want. :)
