Default Question.... Has anyone used this type of fabric?

I am still in the pondering stage of this project. I make all of my husband's work aprons, vests because he can never find what he likes in just one item.

My project coming up is a hunting vest with a recoil pad built in. The fabric needs to be waterproof especially for the small game pouch on the back.

    My question is:
Anyone have experience sewing this type of fabric "500D Urethane Coated Cordura Nylon Hunting Camouflage Fabric"?
I have a heavy duty Janome machine to work with.

I sewed on something similar but in the bright orange regulation hunting fabric. My machine tended to skip stitches. I never did figure out why but sewed every seam twice to counteract the skips.

Good idea, I also try to top stitch where possible. Maybe a needle for denim is required for this type of fabric.

Wondering if a teflon foot would help with the skipping of stitches??

skipped stitches is more of a needle problem. wrong needle or dull needle.

I made a pouch for DH's hunting vest. I used fabric from an old rain coat jacket for the lining.

Was it hard to work with? I could find one at the Goodwill to cut up.

When I sew with rip stop nylon I use a roller foot to avoid skipped stitches.

You might find it helpful to lighten up the pressure on the foot too if you have skipped stitches. I've found it helps sometimes, especially with a thick fabric or multiple layers of fabric.

I sewed new chair upholstery that was a waterproof fake leather, much stronger than pleather. I found a needle that said it was for leather and used my Bernina. It sewed beautifully. Good luck.
