Congratulations! I also got one for Christmas if if were not for my grandson I would not be able to do anything yet!! I still prefer my desktop computer. I have not found a book to download that I really want to read yet.

My kids got me one a couple of years ago and I love it. I read everyday, get my free books from bookblast or the library. It's upstairs right now so can't tell you what apps I have on it. Do know I have one for weather, have this site on it and many others. If you are into playing games you can get some on the fire. Don't play games so not sure what ones are offered. Have fun with it.

Congrats. My friend just got one for Christmas also. I have the KindleKeyboard and the Kindle app on my iPhone. You will enjoy your gift more with each use.

I have the Kindle Fire, and down load books from the library all the time.. There are free books on Amazon, and I play Scrabble with friends.. I use it in bed most. I don't take it with me when I travel, as I prefer the laptop..

Be sure to check out Book Bub for great lists of free books to download. I get a free book almost every day.

Go here right now and sign up for daily emails of all the free books for Kindle: http://www.pixelofink.com/
Amazon has a free app every day so be sure and check that. You can keep all apps and books in the Kindle Cloud and not have them on the Kindle until you want to use them. If you download Print to Kindle to your computer you can send pdf files to your Kindle Fire. It's great to have quilt patterns with you when you find a great sale and want to buy fabric for patterns you have. Oh I just downloaded then new Stephen King novel for $1.99!
