Is there a trick for sewing nylon type fabric. I have some nylon pants, it's reallly soft, is there such a thing as brushed nylon. I need to shorten about 1 inch, of course those useless zippers near bottom of both legs. I decided to rip those out & just sew seams together there. My machine sews about an inch, skips next inch then sews another inch or so, then skips again :-( what's up with that.

Some machines are VERY picky about fabrics. If you have a throat plate that is for staight stitching you might try that. If you don't you may be able to use some tear away interfacing in the seam line. There are different types of machine needles too and a ball point or yellow band needle would be the best for that fabric. Check the size of needle you are using too a size 11 yellow band/ball point may be your best choice. Good luck.

wrong needle-
when you are getting alot of skipped- uneven stitches 99% of the time a different needle will fix the problem
if you visit sites like the thread companies- often they also have tutorials and free content and explain all the different needles- and what needle to use with what fabrics/threads if you are unsure- but i bet if you change your needle you will find your stitches will be lots better

You are right about the needle. Before I read these replies I changed the needle to a finer one :-( .Hey it sewed the seam thump thumping the whole way.Kinda like driving with a flat :thumbup:
