TodayI'm Janice and brand new to this board. My main reason for joining is to find inspiration and support. I was introduced to quilting about 10 years ago by a friend. I've made a number of machine pieced tops but have yet to finish any of them into full quilts, although I have just finished hand quilting a small lap quilt. I wanted to try hand quilting for the experience. Whoa, a lot of slow work but I saw considerable improvement in my skills throughout the process. (I don't know that I'd do it again.) The binding is the only thing left on that one and that's my project for later today. I love machine piecing; it seems to satisfy my love of puzzles, making everything fit "just so". Machine quilting scares the bejezus out of me so I haven't done it yet. I'm about to turn a couple over to a professional so at least they will get done. My main hobby has always been cross-stitch but lately I've been itching to start a new quilt project. I don't have a great deal of stash but it's enough for me to make several scrappy quilt tops. And suddenly I've developed a love of cheddar quilts. I'd love to find a nice old one on line and possibly make one for myself. OK, that's enough info about me. Hi Janice, Welcome!! I am a confirmed quilter and cross stitcher. When my fingers get tired from quilting, I come downstairs sit in my fat comfy chair and cross stitch! I am fairly new to this site too. You will learn so much, these women, and men, are wonderful. If you have a problem or need to know something, they will always come to your rescue.
