Hello to all--I have been enjoying this site for quite awhile and finally figured out how to post a message. I have recently retired from 35 years of nursing and have been having the time of my life paper piecing--I have just completed the top of my 3rd queen size quilt. I always promised myself I would quilt and thanks to a very good friend who showed me what paper piecing was and how to do it I have jumped in and no longer feel intimidated. The posted quilt went to my daughter for Christmas and my son's top is just finished--I don't hand quilt and I don't put the whole works together so far that is too intimidating. I have found thanks to another friend a woman in Regina SK who machine quilts my quilts and does a job that I am totally thrilled with.

Hello from another RN. But I don't have the privledge of "retired" in my name yet. (Work the ER). I too love paper piecing. it's so accurate for those crisp little angles. I wonder if it uses more fabric than cutting with a rotary cutter - it seems like more waste. But itsn't like I really need every inch of fabric. Welcome, and be sure to post lots of photos for us to ahhhhhhhh at. Sara

Glad you joined in! The quilt in your avatar is very pretty. I would love to see a close up of one of the squares so that I could see the material & pattern you used a little better. Since you have been following this site for a while you know it is a lot of fun & a lot of nice people here. Looking forward to seeing all your quilts!!

    Hi Sara
Also worked the Er both in Ontario and her. The paper piecing has certainly been the way for me to go and I don't worry about the waste. I just put them in a bag and one day I may sew them altogether and cut blocks from the scraps--some scrapbookers like the pieces for their cards.

Hi, and welcome. I've been to Denman island a few times and absolutely loved ti. I grew up in Powell River, with my grandparents living in Courtenay. We now live in Vancouver and I really miss the small town "island" life.
