    Default James from Connecticut

    Hi All,
I'm a self-taught sewer with quite a stash of old machines, ranging from 19th century hand-cranks to a few in the 70s, with the emphasis on the "Golden Age" of Singer, 1940-50s. (I have too many favorites to know which ones to part with!)

I used to actively participate in an antique and vintage sewing machine forum until the emphasis turned to antique only and discussions about using the machines were forbidden. I like to use my machines, no matter how old, so I tip-toed away.

I'm glad to be here. I recently made a Tumbling Blocks quilt for a neighbor's new baby and that got the juices flowing. I'm now making myself a Double Irish Chain to hone my precision skills.

I look forward to sharing information and good cheer with all of you.

    Best,
    James

Welcome, James! You can prob teach us a few things about old machines. So sorry I cannot contribute re vintage Singers--only ever had one and just because the cabinet is so pretty (parlor cabinet). But I can sew up a storm with my 13 elec and computerized machines. Share your quilts with us.
