Hello, I started quilting in 2007. My wife has been quilting for 15 years as a hobby. I purchased her a long arm in 2007 off eBay. She had alot of UFO's and after researching the cost I decided to buy one. We have worked side by side in stalling floorcovering for 17 years. We opened a flooring store in 1999. Purchased a commerical property in2003. We moved the long arm into our store my wife Jacki started finishing her UFO's. After awhile she started taking in quilts and doing repairs. I started working with her in the shop and got bit by the quilting bug. I taught my self to repair older Singer sewing machines and started refurbishing and selling them, I specialize in Singer 201's. In 2009 we split the store in half and put an ad in our local Penny Saver paper. Now we have 22 quilters from 12 to 75 years old that come and use our studio each week. I now have a Singer Centurion commerical machine. I have designed 2 of my own patterns and have copyrighted them and sell the patteren at the shop. I am currently teaching my self to paper piece. I started with a Bulldozer clip art and made my own pattern( wow I should have started with something easier). I have never taken a class but realy want to but there aren't alot of choices around here. I have yet to find one that interests me enough to sign up. I have not meet any other male quilters in person, although I know they're out there. So I think men are not that interested. I am here hopfully to get ideas and answers on projects. Hope everyone in the path of Irene is safe and still has power for thier sewing machine. Have a great Day, George
