Welcome from central TX - you'll love this friendly, sharing msg. board - so full of great tip, techniques & ideas.
Good luck on your new venture - you're wise to start on a sm. project - perhaps a wall hanging, or sm. lap quilt.
Will be looking forward to seeing your 1st project posted here.
Have a blessed day

Welcome, from a Texan living south of Houston. If you possibly can, you should definitely try to make it to Quilt Festival at the George R Brown this fall. You can learn a great deal from the speakers and vendors. I do every year.

hello I am also from Texas
I took a class and made a wall hanging and baby quilt for my grandson. Then I took on a larger project and did a queen size applique quilt. Had the same feelings that you had but went out on a limb and tried. Well to my surprise I did it and a quilt store wants to hang it in their store. I would not have believed I could have done a large quilt like that.
So my suggestion to you is to go out on that limb and get creative calls us Texans Can Do It
Good luck in whatever you choose to do.
You are going to love it.l

I just looked at the pics of the doll quilts....maybe start with one of these for your children....or a "I Spy" quilt with things for the kids to find....etc . These can be really fun....
