I saw that once before, and she has some really sage advice for us. I remember once a date said I looked nice, and of course, I said something about my outfit being old. He asked why I said that and didn't just say "thank you." I said, " You're right. Thank you." We need to stop being so critical of ourselves. It's like in politics. If we don't vote for ourselves, who will?

Totally agree, Angela's advice applies to much more than our quilting output. Ever notice that if someone does NOT put themselves down in some way they are viewed as "thinking they are better than us"? We've somehow bought into this "norm" that we must put ourselves down. What are we, a bunch of Victorians? Ooops, I think that was a putdown!

I've bought 2 classes with her on Craftsy. What I love about Angela Walters is that she will freely admit that her quilting isn't perfect as she's quilting it, but then she goes right on to say that it doesn't matter to her. The overall look is great, and that's what she's looking for. She's not a perfectionist!

Saw a friend the other day and complimented her on her outfit. Looked all crisp and clean and Springy/Summery. She said "It's old!" I repeated it looked new and showed how she took care of it. "But it's old." Told her there were enough a**** and to accept the compliment. She laughed. I believe it was how we were raised!

This really is the best advice for quilting and for everything we do! I always try to do my best, but also realize it's NOT going to be perfect because nothing in this world is. Perfect is for when we get to heaven! I also keep in mind that I'm doing this because I enjoy it, and if I start stressing over perfection, then it's not fun anymore!
