    Default Glorified nine patch

As anyone here made one? I would like to. I watched some you tubes....quilting from the heartland,F&P-actually two were there, one with traditional center, melon, other with 4 pieces, curved outer pieces(2)' half melon, and center square...I liked how that one worked out....looks like less stress than whole melons...can get tricky attaching rows....I think. Anyway...F&P site only shows 2 piece, so I went hunting......found the one featured, gateway is name of company, then found another, bay creek....any thoughts out there?

I had to look because the name wasn't familiar:

I not crazy about buying templates that work with only just one quilt and I try to avoid curved piecing.

Not sure about this specific template, but I have purchased templates from Bay Creek before and have been happy with them.

Google Glorified Nine Patch Quilt and there are a couple sites that have free templates. All people for one. It looks like you could also do the circle block with a 9 patch on one side and turn the circle into a square by flipping/sewing together sides of circle. Cheryl Phillips technique. (I think that is her name.) I like that pattern too. It is on my list.

No, I haven't made one, but it's on my list. I have about 6 quilt tops to quilt (all of my own), and one to quilt for my step-mom. I like the idea that yngldy suggested about the circle block with a 9 patch on one side and turn the circle into a square by flipping/sewing together sides of circle.

well, I ordered the template set for glorified 9 patch from bay creek. They certainly do have a wide selection of templates, and prices are reasonable, even have for epp(passaglia)-sp?...I'll keep them on my list of favs.....

i am am not afraid of curved piece sewing....have never had a problem with it, and have always liked G9P.......

This pattern looks like the single ring wedding quilt. You could use those templates for this pattern.

This looks similar to the Urban 9 Patch quilt, by Sew Kind of Wonderful. I made one for my DD for her birthday. There is some curved piecing but it isn't too hard.

Yes, that pattern from sew kind of wonderful is a modernized version of glorified 9 patch, I believe......a variation of the basic idea......
