Default Question as I have not done this before

I just finished appliquéing a top and want to use one of the quilting designs that is built into my embroidery machine. My questions are, do I form the three-layer sandwich and load into my hoop and stitch? Do I need a stabilizer? Or do I stitch it out using a stabilizer and the top only?

    Thanks for your response.

I used quilting designs on my embroidery machine to quilt a baby quilt. I did not use any stabilizer. I hooped the quilt sandwich and stitched the design. It turned out great.

Thank you, Deb. I had almost decided this is how I was going to approach it. Obviously I did not want a stabilizer on the back of the quilt.

The top was an UFO I just want to be able to tick it off the list. i’m ready to move on. Thanks again for the input.

I hoop the fabric and batting, but not with the backing. No stabilizer is needed and the back of the design will not show on the backing. If doing a simple outline design in straight stitching then I might hoop the whole sandwich.
