Haven't shopped there. Love several others tho. I am fan of Jenny Doane at Missouri Star Quilts.

I have shopped in her store in Paducah. It has some good fabrics and some I couldn't stand to touch. I think as has been stated earlier that if you buy those that are her brand you will get top quality.
I really like her rulers...her instructions are exceptional...she is a great teacher!

Re: Eleanor's nature....her sister Patricia comes to my guild once a year as a speaker and yes, to make a sales pitch for books, rulers, etc. If you close your eyes, she sounds just like Eleanor! She puts on a good presentation and keeps things moving along. Eleanor Burns has been very generous with guilds by donating items. I think she is a hoot!

I do not think you will be disappointed in anything you buy from Eleanor Burns. I have bought her books, fabric, and other notions from her and have never had a problem.

I think she's especially lovely and very generous with all her free videos and patterns. (But I still wouldn't go to her Block Parties - lol)
I think I'll comment with my order, not to TEAR my fabric. Probably some slack sales assistant.
Thanks for all your help ladies.
I think their practice is tearing the fabric to keep it cut on the straight of the grain -- but when I got some at a California quilt show, there was about 2 extra inches on each piece. As noted before, there was a difference in fabric qualities, just like in a regular store, but when you can get it for $3/yard, you can use it for many things if you don't like to quilt w/it. One such piece I used for a tote (loved the design).

I have her Trip Around the World Book and have made that one and loveit. I also watch her theater videos and enjoy them. I never bought any fabric from her but I have bought fabric that is torn instead of cut and it was more straight than the cut stuff so dont be afraid of that. Benartes and Moda, RJR, Northcott, Kaufman any of those is good most of the time. Good luck.

I haven't bought alot of her fabric, but what I have has been good. I really like her books. I find her detailed instructions help me very much and have had good results with them. I don't have a picture, but I made my grand daughter the day & night quilt last Christmas, and loved it. Ended up with 2 small quilts with the cut offs from the quilt.

The only big order was Victory Quilt and the fabric was excellent quality. Haven't bought much but some wide backings, ooops, I have some other fabric and it is very good quality too.
