Am I the only one that goes to thrift stores looking for shirts to use as fabric?

That's funny...Everyone knows when I compliment what they are wearing @ church that I am looking at the fabric and they save it for me. Also one of the ladies always gives me clothes when she cleans out her closets and what I don't use for fabric I pass along to thrift store! I also get men's ties this way! Just another reason to go to church!! LOL! God is my source of provision! :thumbup:

Estate sales are a good source of fabric. I went to one yesterday and bought a ton of fabric at 50 cents each piece. Some of the pieces were really large.There was so much fabric for sale the ladies were all buying bags full. They were selling hand made quilts for $30 each...today whatever was left was half off.

When I saw that Bonnie Hunter does the same thing, I thought what a great idea!
We don't have a good thrift store near me, otherwise I would go regularly to see what kind of cottons I could find for my scrappy quilts.
Love thrift stores, when the prices are good and the quality isn't poor.

Nope, you are not alone. A few months ago I was at a charity guild shop here and found half a dozen beautiful Italian cotton shirts (that cotton you love to caress) and got them for $.50 each. When the lady was checking me out, she said it was two- for-one day, so I got all six for $1.50! And they were extra large size and long sleeved, too, so lots of fabric! I still haven't cut them up. Not a stain or a rip anywhere. That was lucky!

Don't know if it counts or not but I just got a 4x scrub jacket and used it to make doggy christmas scarves. I will go look at the thrift stores in VA after I get settled a bit and learn my way around.
