This sewing machine was left at a house my daughter bought. Does anyone know any of the history of "The Free" machine by Westinghouse? It has a nice cabinet, but the electric plug needs replacement & probably other repairs. I believe it was made in Rockford, IL & my guess is that it's from the1930's. Any idea as to value?
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks,

I can't help you with the machine, but that is one gorgeous machine and cabinet. I would try to get in touch with Billy(Lostn51)on here.

That is beautiful. I'd never move and leave something like that behind. Lucky you!

Other than the cord...I doubt if it needs "other repairs" except a good cleaning and oiling. It is like the Singer 15 and is all metal. I would replace the plug-very inexpensive fix if someone handy is around, then clean and oil it(look under cleaning vintage sewing machines in tutorials) and I bet it will run fine. You can download a free manual for a Singer 15 to learn how to use it.
That is a machine that will last a lifetime and beyond!
