Since fleece is stretchy, how does it do for backing a lap quilt? No batting to be used.

I have not used it for a quilt backing but I know it stretches more one way so take that into consideration. What way do you plan to quilt it, sewing machine or long arm?

It’s nice and soft...I use basting spray to sandwich.

Fleece makes a great backing. I just baste as usual with pins and don't worry about it. Cotton tends to stick to fleece and I've never had it stretch or pucker while quilting.

Fleece makes great backing. Just be careful to only smooth it, don’t stretch it and you do not need to do heavy quilting on it. Wide meandering curves are great.

I have backed many quilts with it, they look good and wear well. I have never had any problems w/ "stretching" it clings to the cotton on top. You will need to secure it some way, (glue, pins basting whatever works for you)

The backing is perfect for a lap quilt, but a word of caution. If the top has light colors, a printed fleece may shadow through.

I have made a few quilts with it. I pin baste and have had no problem with stretching or sagging. The resulting quilt will drape nicely and is a good weight for a couch quilt. I have not made one bigger than the width of the fleece because I think the seam would be unattractive.

I buy fleece on clearance and use it for batting for lap quilt and utility quilts. It adds some weight and makes a very cuddly quilt. For lap quilt it's ideal for batting. The quilt stays put.
